Join us Tuesday, April 11, for a presentation by Patti Duncan and learn all about painting "en plein air."
Patti will cover the Four C's of plein air painting: Conditions, Concept, Color, and Composition. She will also discuss the various tools, supplies, and setup needed for painting outside.
Refreshments and social time begin at 6:30, followed by the meeting and presentation at 7:00. We meet downstairs at the McDowell Arts Center, 125 East McDowell Street in Matthews.
Join us for a fun evening of learning and socializing!
Born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, Patti has won awards for her art since middle school. She had a career in graphic design for 26 years while producing creative visual art and teaching art classes as a sideline.
Although acrylics are her favorite medium, she is comfortable with oils, pastels, alcohol inks, encaustics, watercolors and digital artwork. Patti has conducted online art information classes for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at NCSU (OLLI). Continuing Education classes she has taught at North Carolina Technical Colleges include the Monroe campus of SPCC and the Levine campus of CPCC.
Patti has taught a variety of art workshops in Cary, Albemarle, Matthews and Monroe. Since retiring in 2017, she set up a studio in her Monroe home and has pursued visual art as an almost full time activity.
She currently leads a monthly plein air group (Piedmont Painting Pals or P3) in the piedmont area. Venues include locations that offer a variety of subject matter for anyone interested in plein air painting. For more information about this group, please contact Patti at patti.duncan@frontier.com.
